The federal government has opened up polar bear habitat for oil drilling in the Arctic.

There’s still time to stop the drilling, but we need 347 supporters from your state to raise $100,000 by our December 31 deadline to make it happen.
Join Greenpeace today and help save polar bear cubs.
The booming noise from drilling is so loud and confusing, it could lead a polar bear mom to abandon her cubs. Alone and starving, a baby polar bear would have little chance of survival.
An oil spill would be even worse. One single spill could completely destroy the fragile Arctic Ocean ecosystem forever — leaving her with no food for herself or her cubs.
Sadly, this hasn’t stopped the federal government from issuing permits allowing Shell to drill in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas of the Arctic. If the noise doesn’t kill polar bear cubs, an oil spill certainly would. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to make a gift to Greenpeace, this is it. We can’t do this without you.
Please donate now and help us raise $100,000 by midnight December 31 to save polar bear cubs from Arctic drilling. We need just 347 donors from your state to make this happen.
There’s still time to stop the drilling before it starts in 2013.
Shell’s plans to drill in the Arctic were put on hold until next year thanks to Mother Nature, the company’s own incompetence and the success of our global campaign to save the Arctic. However, we know the oil giant will be back to try again next year.
That’s why we’re prepared to do whatever it takes — from fighting them in court to engaging in creative campaigns around the world — to get the permits suspended and prevent Shell from drilling in the Arctic. But, we simply can’t do this without you.
Polar bears need our help now. Please make an urgent donation by our midnight December 31 deadline to help save polar bear cubs from starvation and support all the work we do to protect the environment. Just 347 gifts from your state will ensure that we reach our goal to raise $100,000 by the end of the year.
How are we going to stop Shell’s Arctic drilling? We’re working now to put pressure on the White House calling for the President to suspend Shell’s drilling permits and call a ‘timeout’ on Arctic drilling. And we’ll be launching a global effort soon to get world leaders and dignitaries to show their support for the creation of a global sanctuary in the high Arctic by signing onto our ‘Arctic declaration.’ Hopefully, this work leads to an Arctic resolution being tabled at the UN in 2014.
Together we can make a global sanctuary in the high Arctic a reality. A place off-limits to industrialization and protected forever. Making this dream a reality is going to require significant financial resources. None of us can stop Arctic drilling on our own, but together, people power makes incredible things possible.
Please make a donation today to help save polar bears cubs and ensure that we reach our goal to raise $100,000 by December 31.
All of our campaigns rely on your support. Together, we can make sure that polar bear moms and their cubs don’t have to worry about the deadly noise from drilling or the possibility of a catastrophic spill.
Thank you for all you do,
Philip Radford
Greenpeace USA Executive Director
